Roland E. “Rollie” Campbell, age 83 of rural Tiffin died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at his century farm home after a bout with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, rural Sharon Center with the Reverend Doug Cue officiating. Buial will be at the Sharon cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In Leiu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Roland’s memory to Iowa City Hospice or Sharon Center United Methodist Church. Gay & ciha Fuenral and Creamtion Service is caring for Rollie’s services and his family.
“Rollie” was born the son of Robert and Edna (Horrom) Campbell on December 25, 1918 in the same home that he has passed away at, on their century farm. He graduated from Cosgrove High School. He was a member of Sharon Center United Methodist Church. For over twenty-two years Rollie worked with the University of Iowa Campus Security Department and as a farmer for his entire life. On April 17, 1942 Rollie married Charlotte Vesely at the Evenglical Bretheren Church in Sharon Center.
His family includes his wife of over sixty years, Charlotte; one daughter and her husband, Cheryl and John Manifor of LaHabra, CA; two sons and their wives, Dale and Sally Campbell of rural Tiffin, and Stan and Marybell Campbell of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Tamara Campbell Strecker and her husband, Chris of Bryan, TX; Jeff and Steve Campbell of Iowa City; Michelle Campbell of Tiffin; Brian Campbell of Tiffin; and Lisa Manifor of LaHabra, CA; sister, Millie and her husband, Ray Carpenter of Iowa City.
Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Donald Campbell.
