Lyle G. Donohoe, 84, of Iowa City died Friday, December 8, 2006 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8pmSunday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a rosary will be recited at 7pm, and at the church after 1:15pm Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church.

Lyle was born July 8, 1922 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Julia Griffin
Donohoe. He was raised in the Holbrook area. On February 10, 1947 in married Dorothy
Bergmeier in Nauvoo, Illinois at St. Peter’s and Paul Catholic Church. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this February.

Lyle had farmed for many years, but was better know as a longtime auctioneer and livestock buyer. He operated Donohoe Livestock Sales in Iowa City for 35 years. Lyle
was a partner with Parizek and Donohoe Auctioneers for 20 years, and later established
his own auctioneering business.

Lyle was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Iowa City Elks Lodge and the Loyal Order of Moose.

Lyle loved people and had many friends. He had a strong work ethic and great memory of his auctioneering days. He will be greatly missed.

Lyle is survived by his wife Dorothy and their children, Becky (Don) Hyun of South Haven, Michigan and their children Eric, Kim and Kris; Joseph (Cyndie) Donohoe and their children Cheney and Maria; and Beverly Hamann and her children Brian and Rachel;
Four great grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and Clem; two sisters,
Anna Gaffey and Mina Donohoe.
