Eugene E. Hames, 73, of West Branch died Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center following a long illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd, Coralville, where the family will greet friends after 2pm. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the UIHC Transplant Program c/o University of Iowa Foundation or the American Diabetes Assn.

Mr. Hames was born May 12, 1933 in Goodman, Missouri, the son of Troy C. and Zetta Faye Brand Hames. He married Rose Mary Voigt on February 9, 1959 in Seattle, Washington.

Mr. Hames served in the US Army and was a contractor. Eugene enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Rose Mary and two daughters, Esther (Scott) Heller of Stillwater, OK. and Martha (Tom) Jones of Iowa City; seven grand children and two great grandchildren; one brother, Curt (Norma) Hames of Marion; three sisters,
Frances Amos of Neosho, MO., Luella Lowery of Rogers, AK. and Nancy Loncarich of
Grand Junction, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Steven.
