Leo Raymond Lange, 73, of Iowa City died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Mercy Hospital, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service-605 Kirkwood Ave. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30pm. His funeral service will be held 10:00am Monday, November 20, 2006 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Rev. John L. Henss, officiant. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or the Mercy Foundation.

Leo was born March 27, 1933 in Denmark, Iowa the son of Elmer R. and Anna Rose (Duff) Lange. He served in the Marine Corps. On June 21, 1953 he married Joan Henss at Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland, Iowa. Leo worked as the Composing Room Foreman at the Iowa City Press- Citizen for 27 years. After retiring from the Press Citizen he worked at Mercy Hospital.

Leo was a member of the motorcycle club the “Retreads”, he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and he also delivered meals on wheels for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and he was also a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Lange of Iowa City, by his four children, Denise Bartolomei and her husband Richard of Des Moines, IA, Debra White and her husband Dennis of Iowa City, IA, David Lange and his wife Elizabeth of North Liberty, IA, Douglas Lange and his wife Denise of Iowa City, IA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Richard Bartolomei, Dana Bartolomei, Heather White, Zachary White, Megan Lange and Erin Lange. He is survived by his two sisters, Lucille Watkins and her husband Jim of Tempe, AZ, and Melva Bringman and her husband Don of Jacksonville, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Richard Lange.
