Anna Kathryn Burns, 88, formerly of 1720 E. Court St., Iowa City, died Tuesday October 31, 2006 at the Solon Nursing Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday November 3, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Reverend Michael Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. Thursday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, IA. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Anna Kathryn was born on October 20, 1918 in Cosgrove, IA to William and Mary Ellen Donohoe Burns. Anna Kathryn attended Cosgrove Consolidated School. She graduated from University High School, Brown’s Business College and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Her entire Nursing Career was spent at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, where most of those years were spent in the position of evening supervisor. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Anna Kathryn is survived by a brother Thomas W. (Rita) of Cosgrove, a sister Eileen Leland (Jim) of Solon, two sister-in-laws Marian Burns of Fresno, CA and Rose Burns of Kalona, IA. Twenty-four nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Justin and Edward Burns, a sister Patricia Dikitolia, nephew Steven Dikitolia and a great nephew Lucas Johnson.
