Lawrence J. Denneny, 75, of Coralville died Tuesday at Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center following an extended illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 13, 2006 at 10am at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall with the Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Post 721 and affiliated Legion members will be conducted at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a rosary will be recited at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Larry was born January 7, 1931 in Iowa City, the son of Thomas F. and Genevieve
McCraith Denneny. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and served in the US Army as a paratrooper from 1952-1954.

Larry was employed as a lineman with MidAmerican Energy until his retirement in 1993.

Larry was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Eagle Lodge 695, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Coralville American Legion Post 721, where he served as an honor guard at funeral for veterans.

Larry liked spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed sharing old family stories. He loved to hunt and fish with his nephews and friends.

Larry is survived by his brother, Thomas (Wilma) Denneny and his sister, Ann (Charles) Owen, both of Iowa City; seventeen nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Mary Theresa Denneny and Genevieve Mitchell Moore.
