Donald N. Haldeman, 94, of Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa, died there Friday morning after a long illness.

Inurnment of cremains will be in the Bella Vista Memorial Gardens in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Bella Vista Community Church. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements. 319-338-8171.

Donald was born January 6, 1912 in Carlisle, Iowa, the son of Harry & Laura Mae (Buchanan) Haldeman. Raised in Indianola, Iowa, he married Louise Faye Nuzum in 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. Donald lived in Bella Vista from 1975 to 2004 – then moving to Coralville.

Donald served in the United States Navy during World War II and made a career of the Navy. He retired from the military in 1962 with the rating of Chief Boatswain’s Mate. After retiring from the Navy Don worked for Armstrong Tire as a shipping clerk for 13 years-retiring in 1975.

He was active in the Free Masons, and the Shrine. His passion was golfing and he liked bowling.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Haldeman of Coralville, Iowa and Ken Haldeman and his wife Linda Wright of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Cory Haldeman of Iowa City and Chase Haldeman of Iowa City; brother, Robert Haldeman & his wife Arlene of Indianola, Iowa.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1999 and three brothers, Richard, Frank & James.
