Harry L. Fountain, 90, formerly of West Liberty, died on his birthday, Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Colonial Manor in Amana following complications of a stroke.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City from 2:00 to
7:00 pm. Private family graveside services will be held Wednesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to Colonial Manor in Amana.

Harry was born September 9, 1916 in Louisa County, the son of Harry & Sarah (Gallagher) Fountain. Growing up near Lone Tree, Harry married Kathryn Haman April 12, 1944 in Iowa City. The couple moved to West Liberty in 1953 where Harry worked at the Walnut Grove Feed plant. He later worked for 14 years as a custodian for the West Liberty School District – retiring in 1981. Harry and his wife also owned and operated the car wash in West Liberty for many years.

In 2000, the couple moved to Walford, Iowa.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Kleinschmidt of Walford;
grandson, Jay Kleinschmidt & his wife Wendy and their children Ryan & Dylan;
sisters, Elsie Morgan of West Liberty, Marjorie Reese of Coralville, June Allison of Iowa City and Lucy Heseltine of Wayland, Iowa;

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathryn in July 2003, a brother James, two infant brothers and two sisters, Rosie Poland & Violet Frauenholtz.
