Phyllis Roskup, 74, 830 E. Fairchild St, Iowa City, died Saturday September 2, 2006 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Jeff Belger and Father Michael Phillips will co-officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30pm and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established in Phyllis’s name.

Phyllis was born March 24, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Florence (Kabela) Chaloupka. She married Jake Roskup on June 9, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa at St. Mary’s Church. Phyllis worked as a waitress at the Lark Supper Club for many years and later she worked as a Dietary Assistant for Mercy Hospital. Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. Her greatest joy in life was caring for people.

Phyllis is survived by her, two children; Daniel (Twyla) of Sioux Falls, SD, Denise Halter (Leonard) of Iowa City, brother, Kenneth Chaloupka and his wife Joanne of Iowa City, IA, seven grandchildren; Karina, Krystal, Kristopher, Kendra, Jason, Amy and Eric, a great-grandson Riordan and by her dog Katy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jake, and a son David.

Her family, friends, faith, and the Iowa Hawkeyes were the driving forces and her passion in life.
