Elizabeth Emily Rogers, 100, died Sunday August 20, 2006 at Pleasantview Nursing Home, Kalona, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday August 23, 2006 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Reverend Michael Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City where at rosary and parish vigil will be recited at 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Elizabeth was born on February 11, 1906 in rural Johnson County, IA to James and Mary Krall Wanning. She was raised and lived lifelong in Johnson County. Elizabeth married Carl Rogers on August 24, 1927 in Iowa City at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm until her husbands’ death when she moved to town and did housekeeping jobs for many area doctors.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She loved the country life, crocheting, gardening, flowering, traveling, and doing crossword puzzles. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very dear to her.

Elizabeth is survived by two daughters; Irene Rice of Kalona, Mary Rogers of Iowa City, seven grandchildren; Patricia Troyer (Randy) of Kalona, Michael Rice (Kathy) of Mt. Vernon, Sandra Schloss (Barry) of Tabor, SD, Jane Badger of Texas City, TX, Mary Emge (Kevin) of Omaha, NE, Barbara Wisthoff (Robert) of Michigan City, IN, and Joan Williams (Doug) of Burlington and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, a sister Bertha Rogers, a brother Clarence Wanning and a niece Margaret Ann Robertson.
