William “Bill” Charles Forst, 79 of Iowa City, IA died Saturday August 12, 2006 at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday August 16, 2006 at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville with Chaplain Rebecca Carver officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out in Bill’s name to Iowa City Hospice or Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Bill was born on March 8, 1927 in Des Moines, IA to William E. and Bessie Miller Forst. He married Betty Louise Svendsen on December 17, 1966. She died in 1986. He served his country in the Navy during WWII.

Bill worked for Black & Decker as a salesman for 17 years. In 1971 he opened B&B Auto Parts in Coralville which he ran for 16 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Clarksville Masonic Lodge of Coralville and the Coralville Kiwanis for over 20 years in which he served as President, Secretary and Treasurer. Bill was an antique car enthusiast and an animal lover.

Bill is survived by his four children; Rhonda Forst of Laguna, CA, Danny Gerbasi of Port Richie, FL, Karin Bowers (Michael) of Coralville, and Paul Forst (Jenny) of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren; Jason, Chris, Lindsay and Alison Bland, Karen Demello, Steve Hansler, Jennifer Schroeder, Anthony and James Black, and six great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty and a daughter Kim Black.
