IOWA CITY PRESS CITIZEN, JUNE 16, 1917

Charles WESTFALL passed away at his home, 3 miles west of Hills, yesterday afternoon at 2:30.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock from the family residence. The remains will be brought hither, and then sent to Walnut, Iowa, for interment.

The officiating clergyman at the services will be rev. Mr. Mentire.

Mr. Westfall was 55 years of age, on Nov. 8, and was a native of New York.

He had resided in Iowa City and vicinity, since he was a babe in arms.

He grew to manhood on a farm east of town, and then removed to Walnut, Iowa, where he worked on a farm. In 1892 he married Miss Elizabeth Tradel, of Minden, Iowa, and they took possession of a farm south of Walnut. After 18 years' residence there, the Westfalls came to Iowa City, in 1910, selling their Pottawattamie county farm, and buying the George MENTZER farm here.

During the past seven years they have resided here.

Surviving are the widow and nine of their 12 children. Three little ones died in infancy. The others are Ledger, Pleasant Valley; Mrs. Oscar Tappan, Hills; Mrs. Emory Mentzer, South Liberty; and Horace, Jeffrey, Harold, Raymond, Iva and Martha at home.

Mr. Westfall was a good neighbor and a loving father and husband. The community will extend sympathy to the sorrowing family.
