Earle E. “Bud” Scheetz, 88, of Oxford, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford with Reverend Ed Dunn officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday also at St. Mary’s in Oxford with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Cavalry Cemetery in Oxford.
Memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the Veteran’s Trail.

Bud was born on March 3, 1918 in Cosgrove, the son of Jacob F. and Mary (McGinnis) Scheetz. Bud married Kathryn Winter on January 20, 1942.

Bud served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked for the State of Iowa as a geological technician. He was a member of the Oxford American Legion and of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed clock making and raising miniature ponies.

Bud is survived by his three sons, Gary Scheetz and his wife Donna of Oxford, Michael Scheetz and Donna Finch of Palmetto, FL and Robert Scheetz and Londa Suter of Coralville; two daughters, Mary Lenz of Lone Tree and Debra Downes and her husband Steve of Oxford; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; one brother, Alfred Scheetz and many nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathyrn; two sons, Patrick and Thomas; one sister, Helen and brothers, Joe, Don and Larry Scheetz and one son-in-law Ron Lenz.
