George “Patrick” Helberg, 59, of North Liberty passed on peacefully Saturday, May 06, 2006, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial Services to celebrate Pat’s life will be Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 12pm at Parkview Evangelical Free Church, 15 Foster Road, Iowa City, with Rev. Nevin Suddarth officiating. Private burial will be at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Institute for Cancer Research, (www.AICR.org) in Pat’s name.

Pat was born September 17, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Jirina “Georgie” Melichar Helberg. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. On June 4, 1988 he was united in marriage to Sharon Cesarek in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Pat and Sharon moved to North Liberty in 1994. Pat was a systems analyst with Pearson Educational Measurement, Iowa City.

Pat and Sharon attended Parkview Evangelical Free Church.

Pat is survived by his wife, Sharon; two children, Rob (Lisa) Braun and Kim (Matt) White, both of Johnston, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kahlie and Sydney Braun and Lexie and Jason White and one expectant grandchild in August; his mother, Georgie Helberg Dhein of Shorewood, Minnesota; one sister, Diane (Randy) Helberg Schwanz of Excelsior, Minnesota.

The family would like to express their unending gratitude to all of those who kept Pat in their prayers and supported us during his lengthy illness.
