Uriah W. Long was born 18 Dec 1810 in Virginia according to the 1850 census of Garrard Co. Ky. He was a Minister. He died 4 Nov 1878 prob. in Jefferson Co. Iowa and is buried in the Abingdon Cemetery. He lived in the township of Abingdon. He married first to Susannah (Susan) Lea, sometimes went as LEE.. But actual spelling is Lea. She died before 1846 and is the daughter of Elijah Lea and Martha.
THe children he had with Susannah Lea were:
1. Esquire (Squire) T (J) Long...born 26 Spr 1839 in Ky, died 26 Oct 1864 in the civil war. he is buried in the Abindgon Cem.
2. Nancy E. Long born 1841 in Ky. Died 11 Jan 1862 prob. in Jefferson Co. Iowa, buried in the Abdingdon Cem. Married David Browning.
3. Stephen T. Long..born 1844 prob. Madison Co. Ky. died 11 Aug 1862 prob. Jefferson Co. Iowa, buried in Abingdon Cem. He also died in Civil War.

Uriah then married Rebecca Barnes, she was born 28 Apr 1829 in Ky. Daughter of Nathan Barnes and Amelia Roper...Rebecca died 29 Apr 1866 prob. in Jefferson Co. Iowa and is buried in the Abingdon Cem.

Uriah and REbecca had the following children:
1. Thomas N. Long born 1847 prob. Madison Co. Ky. died 3 Jun 1864 in Civil War and is also buried in the Abingdon Cem.
2. Mary E. Long born about 1849 Madison Co. Ky.
3. Susan Rebecca Long., born 30 Apr 1852 Edgar So. Illinois, died 30 OCt 1929 Eddyville, Wapello, Iowa. Married Wm A. H. Double about 1878 prob. Monroe Co. Iowa..
4. Dian P. Long born 4 Jul 1859, prob. Jefferson Co. Iowa, died 4 Jul 1864, prob. In Jefferson Co. Iowa.
