Pheasant/Mullinix Elope???

Traced my GGGrandmother back to Cape Girardeau County Missouri where she married for 2nd time as Mary Mullinix. Family records and oral history says her maiden name was Pheasant. Only Jefferson County has both of those surnames. According to the 1880 census she was 23 in 1880 and born in Iowa. Wondering if she eloped with a Mullinix who died before 1775 when she remarried. Wondering if she was a dau of Harrison? or Alexander (d1857) or even William?
