The actual full name was Clay Brenaman, but the surname in the Fairfield Ledger was spelled Breneman. He was buried in Chariton Cemetery in Lucas county, Iowa, along with his parents and wife Marybe Jane "Jennie" Noble Brenneman. His FindAGrave memorial (with headstone photos) is # 65154344 (he was born in Lucas county, Iowa, not Jefferson county, on July 21, 1854, however).

Am sending PDF copies of initial obituary and inquest story to the query requestor.
