In Response To: Miles Burris born 1780 (Dan Burris)

At best, some Burris researchers have speculated that Miles and Nancy Burris (her maiden name varies with sources)possibly died in Jefferson county and were buried at Abingdon cemetery, but no headstones or any documentation has been found or provided to prove one way or the other.

Iowa did not mandate birth/death records until 1880, and it is widely presumed that both Miles and Nancy died before then, so there are no death records. I don't think that any mortality schedule with their names has been researched and located. With their exact death dates uncertain it isn't possible to find an obituary for them, if published. It is fair to say that the microfilm images of Fairfield area newspapers have been scoured for information and nothing found.

Perhaps someone else can offer their suggestions for your questions.
