I forgot to mention that my great grandfather was from Iowa. He traded his carpenter services, a cow, and two steers for forty acres of land eight miles from Osage, at what was later called New Haven, on hte Little Cedar River, which ran right by his house. He went to the war with many other Iowans. He was wounded and died in Alabama near the end of the war and it was not possible for his body to be brought back to Iowa. When I get on Gravelly Springs websites I see that many Iowans were buried in the graveyard there.
Thanks for any help you can give.
