Dear friends in Jefferson county, Iowa,

A short time ago I realised I have relatives who emigrated from Rumskulla in Sweden 1869. After some research I find a part of the family in Round Prairie township in Jefferson county. It was a little bit amasing because I’m member of the Peter Cassel society in Sweden so I have read about the place before.

Now I find a lot of valuable information on your webb page or with help of that. It is fantastic work you have done and are doing. One reason of my reserech were questions about an uncle to my grandmother, named Karl Johan Andersson – Charles John Anderson. We just now he disappered from Sweden 1882 at an age of 15. About 100 years later my family realised he still was the owner of some land in Sweden and we had go to court to explain him dead to sell it. Then it was a lot a questions what he really did. Because of the new possibilities with information on internet I started a new try to find out. My base was that he probably travelled to a relative to him already in US. My thought was to find the family with some hope that it is relatives of the family still living in the area.
I find out he travelled to an uncle to him who arrived to Round Prairie about 1869-1870.

* From the passangerlist
Nils P Anderson born 1834
Carolina Anderson born 1832
Two kids Ida and Anders 1866 and 1868

*1870 census I find the family in Round Praire. The two kids were gone but they had another daughter Augusta born 1869 in Illinois.

* From a map from 1871 I find their land on number 15.

* In the book The history of Jefferson county, Iowa it is a short notice about the family. Here it is said they have three children Augusta, Ida and Emma.

* In the Iowa state consensus 1885 I find out Ida was born 1872 and Emma 1877. I was also lucky to find Charles J Anderson now 18 years old.

* I find a graveston, which showed Nils P Anderson died 1894. Another stone showed that the daughter Augusta died 1892 only 23 years old, from Upland Swedish Cemetery.

* In the Iowa state consensus 1895 Ida and Emma was still at the farm.

* The daughter Emma marry Ernst P Nelson 1898 but he dies already 1900. Before they got a daughter named Vivianne Nelson. In the 1900 census Carolina (charlotta) Anderson is still on the farm and that she have had five kids of which two is living. It means that both Ida and are living 1900.

* From your sources I also find a grave stone of Vivianne Nelson. It was said she was only 20 when she died. It was also said she was daughter of Ernest and Emma, raised by her aunt ”Tillie”. From the page it was also said ”since her mothers death eight years ago she had made her home with her aunts miss Tellie Nelson and Mrs Reed. It means that the daughter of Nils P Anderson died 1911.

It is a lot of information I have recieved already with a lot of help from you, but now to my question. As I can see it could be a possibilty that one child survived a little bit longer.

My head question if there any possibilty to find out more information about the daughter Ida born 1872. She probably lived 1900 and I suppose she maybe was married / moved away from the farm about 1895.

It has not been possible to find any more data about Charles J Anderson. Than from the cosensus of 1885 Probably he moved away (it could depend on Nils P Anderson death or maybe marriage), but I have to ask if there could be any more data about him.

This a try and I understand the possibilities is smal.

Kind regards

Anders Emmerman
