School Teachers of the 1850's

Where would I find records of school teachers in the Jefferson/VB Co area in the 1850's? My GG Grandfather's (William P McMillan) listed him as a school teacher in the VB CO area. He did indeed graduate from the Western College of PA in 1847 with a degree as a teacher. His marriage certificate 1-1-1850 in VB Co showed he was living in Jefferson Co at that time. I would assume close to Birmingham; as he lived in that area after his marriage.
