My name is John Chevin Fordyce, my father was John Winfield Fordyce, his father was Dr. Chester Fordyce and his father was Dr. Winfield Fordyce. The Fordyce family was once very prominent in Fairfield and yet virtually nothing is found about the family on this website or any of the other Jefferson County websites. I'd like to take steps to correct this. My Grandmother, Roxie Fordyce, lived at the family home at 307 E. Broadway from 1920 until her death in June 1979, the last member of the family to reside in Fairfield. Dr. Winfield Fordyce even donated the Boner Log Cabin (the oldest home in Jefferson County, located at the Waterworks) in 1906 to the Jefferson County Historical Society, yet there is no mention of this online either. Please help me add to Fairfield's history online. Thank you, John C. Fordyce
