My grandmother was Clarah Cassandra Caviness and my grandfather was William Edwin Rains. They both ;ived in Fairfield, and died I believe in the 1960s and are buried in the cemetary in Fairfield. They had two daughters and two sons, in order: Gladys, Glen, Dorothea, and William Donald. My mother was Dorothea Clemence Rains. She was given her middle name for her Aunt "Clemmie" who was probably Clementine or Clemence, and was probably a Caviness or a Rains. I can't find the names of the parents or ancestors of either Clarah Caviness or Willim Edwin Rains. My mother was born in Batavia, Iowa in 1906, and I recall that she told me it was at the home of one of her grandmothers.

But I can't find any of my Rains of Caviness ancestors in any of the Census records I've looked at.

Can anyone help?
