Suicides or Violent Deaths

Are there any lists of suicides or violent deaths that occurred in Jefferson Co. in the 1880's or 1890's?
I'm trying to find what happened to Clara HAMPTON, widow of Levi HAMPTON who died in 1882. She was still in Jefferson County until about the end of 1882 when her home was listed in a tax sale. Family lore says "someone" in this family was shot..no more details about who or why or when. Since Clara's name seems to have disappeared after her young husband died and some of her children given out for adoption, I'm wondering if there's a tie between this story and an actual happening.
I'd appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.
