A family group sheet for Thomas Collins prepared in May 1981 was located in the Our Jefferson County Ancestors genealogy section of the Fairfield Library (thanks to Verda for pointing the right direction to look):

As always, consider all names and dates and locations with some caution....

Thomas Collins, b. July 12, 1787 North Carolina d. June 3, 1866 Pekin, Illinois. His parents reportedly: Jasper Collins & Sallie Smart Collins.

Married Polly Elan (other sources used Elam) November 19, 1815 in Kentucky.

Polly Elan/Elam, b.Oct. 22, 1795 Chesterfield County, VA. d. March 22, 1852 Morgan County, Ill.

Children (short, condensed version, not necessarily verified and accurate): Valina, Olivia, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison (subject of original request), Mary, Waltus, Benj. Franklin, Susan, Frances Ann, Henry Clay, Orvil Collins.
