Yes, this is the family I'm interested in. I have this 1880 census record. They adopted a child, Mary Elizabeth, in 1881 and later moved to California.

The 1900 CA census says they had two children, none then living. Curious to see if the children died in Jefferson Co. IA. Last Iowa record I found, Wm. Adams was living in Jefferson Co. - his name appeared on 1886 City Directory, Fairfield.

Looking for death records or obituaries in Fairfield newspapers some time between 1880 and 1900.
