Silas Grant

Looking for info on Silas Grant, whose daughter Sarah was born in Washington County 1839/40. He was supposed ly born in NY (possibly Maine.) The book "Crossing the Plains in 49" talks about a Silas grant, possibly living in Bellefontaine in 1849, who dies trying to reach California. Can find no record of Sarah living with a Silas, altho there are other Grants (Hiram and Jeremiah) in Washington County who might be realted. She married a Joseph Britton in Madison County, 1862. She later married James Zink in southern Iowa.
