GUY TAYLOR FAMILY

TAYLOR

The people that I am having trouble finding information on is my great uncle and his wife. GUY WILBUR TAYLOR was born August 10, 1890 in Batavia, Jefferson County, Iowa.

Guy's father was Fred Makepeace Taylor (7-14-1855 to 11/12/1934...born in Glasgow, Iowa and died in Ft Pierce, Fla.). His mother was Alena Durr Taylor (11/1863 to 7/31/1948...born in Jefferson County, Iowa and died in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Fred M. Taylor's parents were Dr. Samuel W. Taylor(1817-1900...died in Glasgow, Iowa) and Amy Makepeace Taylor (1813-1903...died in Glasgow, Iowa.

Alena Durr Taylor's father was Casper Durr (1826-1909...born in Switzerland and died in Ottumwa, Iowa-buried in Batavia, Iowa. Alena's mother was Salome Durr (1834-1906...born in Switzerland and died in Jefferson County, Iowa) Per the 1856 census, the Durrs lived in Locust Grove Township of Jefferson County.

Guy Wilbur Taylor had 2 brothers, Roscoe and Ernest (my grandfather), and one sister, Florence. All born in Jefferson County, Iowa.

In 1910, Fred, Alena, and the 4 kids lived in Iowa City where Fred ran a boarding house.

In the 1/26/1920 census for Brighton, Washington County, Iowa, Guy was single and was a physician.

In about 1920 Guy married a woman named "Luella". Last name unknown. From notes from my family history, Guy and Luella had no children.

In the 4/19/1930 census, Guy and Luella lived in Grass Creek, Hot Springs County, Wyoming. He was a doctor employed at a hospital owned by Ohio Oil Comapny.

In the obituary for Guy's father in November, 1934, it mentions that Guy lived in Grass Creek, Wyoming. In the obituary for Guy's mother in August, 1948, no mention is made of Guy. I assume he died between 11/1934 and 8/1948. I can not find any record in the Social Security Death Index.

Per the 1930 census, it shows that both of Luella Taylor's parents were born in Ohio and Luella was born in Iowa. Luella was about 1 year older than Guy. In searching Iowa census's for 1900 through 1920, I find a Luella Engel (or Engler) in Brighton, Washington County (where Guy lived in 1920). She was born a little befor Guy and both her parents (Joseph and Hannah) were born in Ohio. Most likely, it was Luella Engel who married Guy, but I can find nothing to confirm this.

I would like to find when and where Guy and Luella died. It could be Wyoming or it could be anywhere. I would like to find a 1920 marriage record confirming Guy's wife was named "Engel". I have no family notes to give a clue and I would like to learn what I can about these relatives who just vanished. I contacted his last-known employer from 1930 - The Ohio Oil Comany - and they did not have records that far back.

Any help or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
