There are no bluffs along Cedar Creek in Jefferson County Iowa. It is a quiet little creek, and in fact just three miles south of our farm here you can
drive your car across it.In order to have a saw mill there had to have been a LOT of constantly running water. This creek just
trinkles a lot of the time, but it can really get
wide and rushing if we get a 3 inch rainNow if you are talking about SKUNK River into which the Cedar Creek empties, I have read where
there were boats that could navigate as far north
up Skunk as Brighton. Skunk has a south fork, and
also north fork It had very early grist mills for
grinding grain, biggest one probably at Merrimac
you could find on the Walnut Township map of
Jefferson County on this same web site. Good luck in your research.Verda Baird, corresp. secy Jeff Co Genie Soc.
