Thank you, Mary, for checking this for me. It doesn't appear Fred Hampton or his mother, Clara, owned land in Jefferson Co. during this time period. The only piece of property I've been able to find has been a home purchased in c. 1880 in Fairfield by Clara and her husband, Levi Hampton. Last reference I've found was a notice posted in the newspaper by the Co. Treasurer in Nov 1882 saying Clara Hampton had not paid taxes on it. Later I found the Title transferred to the person who held a mortagage on it. I'd hoped either Fred Hampton or his mother had later owned a home or some farm land.
