WHISLER, Neal I. -- Neal I. WHISLER, 76, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Fred Bickhart officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

A memorial has been established to Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington, Iowa.

Mr. WHISLER was born May 25, 1931, in Brighton, the son of Neal G. and Leona F. McNEESE WHISLER. He married Bette D. JACOBS in 1966 in Kahoka, Mo. She died in 1996.

Mr. WHISLER graduated from Brighton High School. He had been a resident of Washington since 1995. Prior to living in Washington, he had lived most of his life in Brighton and lived in Richland for five years. He was employed at the Kaser Corporation for 40 years until his retirement in 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan CHRISTIAN of Vandalia, Mo., Mary RICHARDSON and husband Mel of Washington, Iowa, and Pamela GARRETT and husband Tom of Vancouver, Wash.; three sons, Ralph Allen of Coralville, Ronald Sistern and wife Valerie of Washington, Iowa, and Gordon Sistern of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
