BATAVIA - Last rites will be held Sunday, Feb. 8, for J. H. "Red" ODUM who died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He had been a patient there ten days.
The funeral Sunday will be at 2 p.m. in the Batavia Methodist Church with the Rev. Eugene Nord and the Rev. John Nye officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery. Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia.
J. H. ODUM was born June 25, 1894, in Prairie City, the son of John and Mary K. GOBBLE ODUM. He spent most of his life in the Abingdon and Batavia Communities, and had worked as a carpenter and brick mason.
ODUM was a member of the Batavia Christian Church; Kilwinning Lodge No. 198, AF & AM, Batavia; Arbor Vita Chapter OES; he was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Barracks.
He was married June 1, 1925 to Grace E. SMITH who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Raymond, Cleveland; Lew of Peoria, Ill., and four
grandchildren.He was preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers.
