JOHN McLANE, FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT, DIES
Services held Tuesday in Seattle, Wash., for prominent Mason

Word has been received here of the death of John McLANE, 82, former resident of this city. Mr. McLANE passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. O. GRAHAM, in Seattle, Wash., on Sunday, May 11. Services were held Tuesday, and burial was in a Seattle cemetery.

Mr. McLANE was an old-time resident of Fairfield, and operated a creamery here under the Fairfield Steam Laundry. He was a highly respected citizen of this community, and resided at one time at 206 W. Washington, and later at 602 West Monroe. He was prominent in Masonry, being a member of Clinton Lodge No. 15 A. F. and A. M., McChord Chapter No. 5 R. A. M., Gethsemane Commandery No, 15 K. T. in Fairfield. He was a member of all the York Rite bodies and the Shrine in Davenport.

His wife passed away five years ago, and since that time he had made his home with his daughter, Mabel, in Seattle.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. GRAHAM, and four sons, Lloyd and John of Seattle, Walter of Alhambra, Calif., and Clifford I. of Chicago, who is now a sales manager with the Ben J. Allen Co., wholesale jewelry firm.

OBITUARY
JOHN McLANE

John McLANE was born in Granville, Vermont, March 1, 1858 and died in Seattle, Wash., May 11.

In his early young manhood he came to Iowa and was in the creamery business for a number of years in both Batavia and Fairfield. He was twice married, first to Miss Caroline GREENLAND who passed away many years ago. In 1907 he married Miss Bertha HAINES (sic - HAYNES) who preceded him in death five years ago.

He was affiliated with Clinton Lodge No. 15, Gethsemane Commandary and Kaaba Temple, Davenport. He leaves to mourn him one sister, Mrs. J. H. NYENFUIS of Chicago, Ill. and five children Mable GRAHAM and John H. of Seattle; Lloyd of Tacoma Wash.; Walter, Los Angeles, Calif. and Clifford of Chicago.

Funeral services were held in Seattle Washington, May 13.

Note: His second wife Bertha HAYNES died in 1936 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery here in Fairfield, in Lot 1st.051 with other HAYNES family members.
