Jonathan HARRIS, born 3 1/2 miles north of Batavia on the old HARRIS homestead Nov. 18, 1845, died at his home in Batavia Jan. 10, 1920, aged 74-1-22.
Married Purlina Ann WILLIAMS Aug. 23, 1866. Ten children, six sons and four daughters, all survive with the exception of Carol Rex, who died Aug. 28, 1891. They are Henry Harvey, Robert Uriah, Jasper Lemuel, Leverett Milton, and Orval Reuben HARRIS; Mrs. Miranda JAMISON, Mrs. Julia HARRIS, Mrs. Mary Jane WILSON and Mrs. Edith BURR. These with the mother and wife survive the father. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 6 grgrchn, and one sister, Mrs. John BROWN. Church of Christ. Funeral at Batavia Christian Church Tues., Jan. 13, 1920, 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. W. B. Pettit, now of Albia.... buried in Batavia Cemetery so near to where he had lived more than the promised three score and ten years....
