HE WAS A PIONEER. John G. W. SMITH, a pioneer settler of Jefferson County, died at his home in Des Moines Township Monday morning at 2 o’clock…..Mr. SMITH was a native of Harrison County, O., where he grew to manhood, but had resided in this county since about 1840. He was almost 80 years of age. His wife and several children survive him…..Funeral services were held at the family residence this morning, and the remains were interred in the German Baptist cemetery in Des Moines Township.
