PIONEER IS DEAD. “Grandma” ARMSTRONG of Libertyville was Buried Today At That Place. Mrs. Maria ARMSTRONG , one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Jefferson County, died yesterday morning at five o’clock at the home of her son, Edwin ARMSTRONG , in Libertyville. Mrs. Maria TATE ARMSTRONG was born in Pennsylvania in 1813 and in 1832 was united in marriage to James ARMSTRONG . Early in the year 1862 the family moved to Iowa and located near Libertyville. In 1869 Mr. and Mrs. ARMSTRONG took charge of the Jefferson County Poor Farm and owing to their good management they remained in charge of that institution for six years. Mr. and Mrs. ARMSTRONG were the parents of six children, several of whom are living. Mr. ARMSTRONG passed away several years ago. The family were among the most highly esteemed residents of the county. The funeral services were held this afternoon at two o’clock from the residence and the remains were laid to rest in the Dunkard cemetery.
