DEATH OF A PIONEER WOMAN. Mrs. Anne GLOTFELTY, a pioneer woman of Jefferson County, died at the home of a son, Franklin GLOTFELTY, in Libertyville Sunday morning. Death was caused by paralysis, and resulted after an illness of only a few days. Mrs. GLOTFELTY was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, June 12th, 1819, and grew to womanhood there. She was married to Michael GLOTFELTY, who died in this county about twenty-two years ago, and with her husband came to Iowa in 1845. After four years’ residence in Van Buren county, they removed to a farm in Des Moines Township, this county, where they made their home for many years. Mrs. GLOTFELTY was the mother of ten children, six of whom survive her, all in this county. They are Jacob, Samuel S., Franklin, John a., and Ed Glotfelty, and Mrs. D. E. RODABAUGH. Among the earlier settlers of the community Mrs. GLOTFELTY had a wide acquaintance and was held in high esteem as a Christian woman, neighbor and friend. She was a member of the Brethren Church nearly all her life and followed its teachings closely and conscientiously. Funeral services were held in Libertyville Monday, in charge of Elders Daniel ZOOK and Daniel HOLDER, assisted by Rev. C. SPRINGER. The remains were interred in the Brethren Cemetery two miles southeast of Batavia, where other members of the family have been buried.
