CURTIS FUNERAL WILL BE FRIDAY

BATAVIA. Chester CURTIS, 68, died at the Jefferson County Hospital at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday after an extended illness.

CURTIS was born March 29, 1904 near Batavia, the son of Arthur and Ada TRESENRITER CURTIS. He always lived in Pleasant Township and Wapello County.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Batavia. At various times he served as president of the church board, secretary of the board and delegate to the district conference.

He was a member of the Methodist Men's Choir and taught Sunday School for several years.

CURTIS married Josephine TEETER April 28, 1929. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Wayne at home and Bruce of East Lansing, Mich., and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, E. J. and Leonard, both of Fairfield, and Lawrence of Coarsegold, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Harry McNIEL of Agency and Mrs. W. G. HUTTON of N. Royalton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Batavia United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Earl Erb and the Rev. Robert Cummings. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery.

The casket will be taken to the church from the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia at 11 a.m. Friday.

A memorial has been established payable to the United Methodist Church.
