On the 13th inst., at her home one mile north of Brookville, occurred the death of Mary, wife of Henry HITE, in the ninetieth year of her age. Deceased was born in Washington County, Virginia. She was married to Andrew WELLS, in 1818, and he died in 1827. Three children were born to them. One died in infancy, another, Dr. William WELLS, died at Oskaloosa some years ago, while the third, Morgan WELLS, now resides in Locust Grove township. On December 23d, 1831, Mrs. WELLS was married to Henry HITE. She was the mother of six children by this marriage. Harriet, the eldest, died in her twentieth year, Randolph and Wiley W. live in Polk township; Susannah, wife of Willian SNIDER, at Brookville; Nancy J., wife of Dr. M. D. BALDRIDGE, at Batavia; the other daughter, Laura, died on the way from Virginia west. The family came to this county in 1845.....Note: Buried in Gantz Cemetery. Maiden name per the 1925 Iowa census was MOBLEY.
