The "Batavia Sentinel" records the death of Mrs. Martha W. ALFRED in that place the 4th inst. Born in Beaver Co., Penn., where she married Hugh ALFRED.

They started west with a family of 12 children in 1851, and the husband and father died on the journey. Other members of the family came to Jefferson County in 1858 and resided for a long time near County Line. Mrs. ALFRED was 88.
