PROV. CLARENCE JOHNSON FUNERAL HELD AT LOCKRIDGE TUESDAY

The remains of Private Clarence JOHNSON, who died, Saturday morning, at the city of Springfield, Mass., after a week's illness with pneumonia, arrived at Lockridge, this morning, and were taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew JOHNSON, south of Lockridge.

Private JOHNSON was a member of the group of selected men who left Fairfield July 22nd, for Camp Pike, Ark. After a few days he was sent east to Camp Rariton, New Jersey, until two weeks ago Saturday. A where he has since been stationed few days ago he was taken ill with Spanish influenza which later developed into pneumonia resulting in his death (sic).

He was about twenty-seven years of age and besides his parents he is survived by four brothers, Emil JOHNSON, of this city, Victor JOHNSON, who is on board the U.S.S. Illinois, and Ed and Frank O. JOHNSON, both of Lockridge, and one sister, Mrs. Selma NELSON, lso (sic) of Lockridge.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, at three o'clock, from the Uplnd Swedish (sic) church south of Lockridge following short sehvices held t the home (sic).
