Obit. Mrs. Eliza E. SMITH.

Eliza E. MICKEY was born Apr 1 1842 near Springfield, Ill., but came to Iowa when a small child with her mother, brothers and sisters, the father having died when quite young. She was married to Andrew J. STANLEY in 1859*. Two sons, one dying in infancy, and one, Charles Henry, was but one year old when the father answered his country’s call to arms and was killed in the battle of Arkansas Post. Thus another young widow and infant were left to suffer the effects of the dark days of the rebellion. In 1865 Eliza E. Stanley was married to Hiram SMITH and to them were born three daughters: Mrs. Nellie E. CARER, Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Lillie M. HOWARD resides in Tacoma, Wash.; the son, Charles STANLEY, resides in Sedro Wooley, Wash. The daughter with whom she has made her home for the past 30 years, Mrs. Belle THOMPSON, resides in Kansas City. The husband and father died in 1894.....Free Will Bapt. Church. She leaves the three daughters, one son, 11 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, an invalid sister, in her 85th year, Mrs. Sarah FLANDERS of Ottumwa, Iowa, and one brother, R. C. MICKEY, in his 78th year, of Mystic, Iowa.....Interment in Lambirth Cemetery (Henry County, Iowa) by the side of her husband.....
