William JAMES succumbs at Jefferson county hospital last nightMr. William JAMES, 82, of Batavia, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital yesterday evening at 11:20 p.m. He had been in poor health for the past several years and was a patient in the hospital here for the last fifteen days.
JAMES, the son of William and Hester SNOOK JAMES, was born in Jefferson county March 6, 1861 and has spent his entire life in this county. He has been a prominent farmer for some time in the Batavia community.
He married Mary HIDY on March 29, 1892, who preceded him in death in December of 1926.
JAMES was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters, and is survived by six brothers and one sister including: Theodore of Alhambra, California, George of Fairfield, Ed of Agency, Weldy of Waterloo, Rolla of Des Moines, Arvel of Batavia and Mrs. Sadie SULLIVAN of Fairfield.
He was a member of the Methodist church in Batavia.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Methodist church in Batavia with the Rev. H. H. Stark in charge.
Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield.
The body will remain at the Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia until the time of the service.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of William JAMES, Deceased is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson County, and that September 27, A. D. 1943 at 9:30 o'clock a.m. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.
Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 1st day of September, 1943.
