Harvey HUGLIN, Retired Officer, Dies Of Illness

Colonel Harvey P. HUGLIN, U.S. Air Force, Retired, died August 10 at March Air Force Base Hospital, California, according to word received here today. His death followed an illness of several months.

Interment was at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in California.

Col. HUGLIN was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. HUGLIN, former Fairfield attorney. He attended the Fairfield public schools and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., graduating from there in 1932.

He is survived by his wife who resides at 4094 Conejo Drive, San Bernardino, Calif.; by a daughter and stepson both of whom live in Southern California, seven grandchildren; and by his two brothers, Brigadier General Harold Q. HUGLIN, USAF, Retired, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Brigadier General Henry C. HUGLIN, USAF, Retired, Santa Barbara, Calif.

30 Years

Col. HUGLIN had served in the armed forces for 30 years when he retired in April, 1963. He was comissioned a second lieutenant in 1932 when he was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. He is also a graduate of the Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.; and the National War College, Fort Lesley, McNair, Wash.

He held important assignments during World War II and during the years following. He saw service in the Far East Command, Peperell Air Force Base, St. John's Newfoundland, as well as at several installations in the United States.

Note: Harvey was a son of John A. and Clara Lenore PORTER HUGLIN, who are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot 3rd.014½. This lot includes memorial headstones for Harvey and both of his brothers. Harvey was married twice, his first wife being Marjorie Elizabeth BASTIN, and his second Adelaide Ernestine CHITTENDEN ALLEN. He is buried with Adelaide.
