Death of Dr. HUFFORD.

Rollin Hughes HUFFORD died at his home in this city Sunday morning at 6:15, after a brief illness from heart disease. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery yesterday afternoon, funeral services being held at the family residence by Rev. J. H. Lloyd of the Episcopal church, Ottumwa. Dr. HUFFORD was born at Brownsville, Penn., August 23d, 1823. His earlier years were spent in that state. He was a graduate of Jefferson college, at Washington, and also of Starling Medical college, Columbus, Ohio. Dr. HUFFORD came to Iowa in 1857, and resided in Monroe county from that time until 1864, when he came to Fairfield. Although he never engaged in the regular practice of his profession in this city, he had been in active business during all this thirty years' residence here. He has held prominent positions in the First National bank, the Jefferson Coal company and other enterprises of that nature, and had been almost constinuously engaged in the drug business. He had many warm friends in the community who knew his excellences of character and loved and esteemed him. His wife, formerly Mary J. HENN, and two grown children, a son and a daughter, survive him.

The following resolutions have been adopted by the directors of the First National bank:

Resolved, That in the death of Dr. R. H. HUFFORD we have sustained the loss of a kind friend, a man of good business methods, and one in whose judgment we had great confidence, and a firm friend and worker for the institution with which he has been so long connected.

Resolved, That our sympathy be extended to the bereaved wife and children of the deceased, and that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this board, and that the Bank be closed at 2 o'clock p.m., Tuesday, September 18th, 1894, during the afternoon for the funeral of deceased.
