Rosella Marie ECKELBERG, 96, of Muscatine, and formerly of Batavia, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Muscatine.

Mrs. ECKELBERG was born July 19, 1909, at Browns, the daughter of Martin and Minnie ELSNER TESHAK. She married Cyril F. ECKELBERG March 29, 1937, at the Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa.

Mrs. ECKELBERG grew up in the Maquoketa area. She and her husband lived in the Batavia community from 1958 until 1985, when they moved to Muscatine. She took care of the elderly for more than 20 years and enjoyed neighboring and babysitting. She was very involved in her church's activities and collecting antiques and holding and going to yard sales through the years.

Mrs. ECKELBERG was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Deceased family members include her husband on Dec. 17, 1996, an infant daughter Eunice Irene ECKEDLBERG and son John William ECKELBERG.

Survivors include her children, Cecilia Ann ECKELBERG WHITE of Palmyra, Mo., Cyril J. ECKELBERG of Clinton; Mary Ellen ECKELBERG of Clinton; and Bernadette ECKELBERG of Muscatine; two grandsons, William Cyril ECKELBERG of Clinton and Jessie WHITE of Palmyra; one granddaughter, Ann Marie and husband Charles SALYER of Palmyra; one great-grandson, Charles Evan SALYER, Jr. the 4th; and one sister, Irene ROSE of Maquoketa.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with Father Charles Fladung and Father Clarence Beckley officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery at Batavia.

The family will receive friends from 8:30-10 a.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, just prior to going to the church for the Mass.

Memorials may be made to the recitation of Masses in Rosella's name.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
