ALBIA, Iowa, April 4 (UP)-- Raymond HOLGATE, Fairfield, Iowa, lost a race with the stork here today. Mr. and Mrs. HOLGATE had been speeding home from Knoxville where HOLGATE has been employed recently. At Albia it became evident that they were running a losing race. Therefore Mrs. HOLGATE entered a hospital here where a 24 oz. baby was born (note: in Monroe Co., IA).
Placed in an incubator the infant was reported as "doing nicely."

ALBIA, Iowa, April 5 (UP)-- The 24 ounce son born to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond HOLGATE, Fairfield, Iowa, died last night. The child had been in an incubator since birth, Monday night. Mrs. HOLGATE, 16, entered a hospital here when it became apparent she would not reach her home in time for the birth. She and her husband had been driving from Knoxville, where he is employed to Fairfield.

Front Page, Column 2Grave Services Held For HOLGATE Infant Today
Short funeral services for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond HOLGATE who died on Tuesday evening in an incubator at an Albia hospital were held at the grave this afternoon at 4:00 o'clock in Evergreen cemetery. The baby weighed 24 ounces and had been named Jimmy David.
The body was brought to the Hoskins Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
