Page 3, Column 2MRS. REGINA HOCH DIED SUDDENLY.
Many friends were greatly shocked this morning to learn of the death of Mrs. Regina HOCH, one of the best known of the older settlers of Fairfield which came shortly after two o'clock this morning at her home on West Broadway, closely following a stroke of apoplexy with which she was smitten yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. HOCH resided alone and late yesterday afternoon a neighbor going to her home found her laying on the floor of her kitchen in an unconscious condition. The fire in the stove was out and Mrs. HOCH must have lain unconscious for some time before she was found. She regained consciousness before her death and recognized her son and several friends.
Mrs. Regina RAUSCHER-HOCH was born in Germany, January 21, 1844 and when ten years of age came with her parents to America. After landing at New York the family made their way westward and located finally at Four Corners in this county. In young woman hood she was united in marriage to Gotlieb HOCH and two children were born to them. Mr. HOCH has been dead for several years. The son, William HOCH who lives about four miles northeast of town and the daughter, Mrs. Frank PORTER of Lamont, Okla., are left. She also leaves a brother, Fred RAUSCHER of Lockridge and a sister, Mrs. J. B. FLAM of Mt. Pleasant.
Mrs. HOCH was a member of the First Lutheran church of this city. while no definite arrangements have been made for the funeral it will probably be held Sunday after noon at the First Lutheran Church.
