The angel of death robed in her purity of white came to the home of A. W. and Della HISEL and bore on its flight to the beautiful mansions above the little spirit of their first born and only child, little Gerold Fern aged 8 months. The little fellow was a sweet and lovable child and only those who have passed through such an ordeal can sympathize with the bereaved ones. Little Gerold was as well as common at night fall but awoke in the night with a spasm from which he never recovered and at the dawn of a new day his little spirit had returned to the God who gave it.

Carold (sic) Fern HISEL, son of Arthur and Della HISEL, was born April 14th, 1903, and died December 14th, 1903. Only eight short months were permitted to possess a treasure so priceless. Just when the clinging tendrils had begun twining themselves around our hearts, God, in all his wise judgment saw fit to take our baby from us, leaving us with empty arms and broken hearts, but with a hope that some day we will meet little Carold where separation is no more. While we stood aghast at the work of a few brief moments and thought of those sweet, innocent blue eyes with every expression of nobility and purity stamped upon them, we understand now that they were meant for that home above where all is such.
Rev. Thos. Osborn conducted the funeral and spoke words of comfort to the bereaved friends. Little Carold was laid to rest in the Fairfield Evergreen cemetery, to await the resurrection morn. "Another little lamb has gone to dwell with him who gave; another little darling babe is sheltered in the grave. God needed one more angel among his shining band, and so he sent his loving smile and clasped our darling's hand."
