Halleen HILL

FAIRFIELD -- Halleen Maye HILL, 79, of Fairfield died at 7:35 a.m. May 14, 1999, at Jefferson County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Green Forest, Ark., to Perry and Winona HEADMAN TETER. She married Glenn U. HILL on June 7, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.

She lived with her family in Arkansas until moving to Ottumwa, where she grew up and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1938. She moved to Fairfield in 1940. She retired in 1982, after many years at Jefferson County Hospital, where she worked as a certified nurse's aide and as a ward clerk. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Douglas HILL of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, William DOWNEY; and two brothers, Elbert TETER and one in infancy.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Hospice of Jefferson County, the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, or to Evergreen Cemetery Association.
